We offer on-site Class 4 MOT testing, which covers essential safety and maintenance checks to ensure your vehicle remains safe and compliant with road regulations. For added convenience, our combined interim service and MOT package helps keep your car running smoothly throughout the year.

Why Do I Need an MOT Test?

The MOT (Ministry of Transport) test confirms that your vehicle meets safety and environmental standards required for driving on UK roads. If your car is three years old or more, it’s a legal requirement to have an MOT annually. Driving without a valid MOT certificate is against the law.

At Meadens Christchurch MOT Testing Centre, we thoroughly inspect key areas of your vehicle, such as brakes, the fuel system, seatbelts, windscreen wipers, and mirrors, to ensure compliance with the required standards.

When Should I Schedule an MOT Test?

Once your vehicle reaches three years of age, it will need to pass an MOT inspection every 12 months. The MOT must be completed by the anniversary of the previous year's test. If your car is less than three years old, it is exempt from MOT testing.

Once your vehicle passes the MOT, you'll receive a certificate with the test and expiry dates. You can schedule an MOT test up to one month (minus one day) before your current certificate expires to maintain your original renewal date.

Can I Drive After My MOT Expires?

Once your MOT has expired, you can only legally drive to a garage for a pre-arranged MOT appointment. You may not drive elsewhere after the expiry date without a valid MOT certificate.

If stopped by law enforcement while driving to a booked MOT test after the expiry date, you must provide proof of your appointment to avoid penalties.

Is My Insurance Valid Without an MOT?

No, if your vehicle is three years or older, your insurance will not be valid unless you have a valid MOT certificate. It is a legal requirement to maintain a valid MOT for your vehicle to ensure both your safety and compliance with insurance terms.
